You want your parent to stay independent. You also want to know somebody can reach you if they need help.
That balance can be difficult. Too much checking may feel intrusive. Doing nothing can leave everyone carrying quiet worry.
A practical middle ground
Your parent can choose what their MIPACE profile shows. It could be as simple as their preferred name, who to call and one or two details that may help somebody support them.
Their device can stay on a keyring, bag or another suitable everyday item. If they become confused, unwell or unable to explain, a person helping can tap it and reach the chosen information.
For families, that can reduce the fear of “What if nobody knows who to call?” For the person carrying it, it can support confidence without taking away choice.
